Underground Thrives

When you mean Underground in Nepal, it has these nasty meanings,
Every Nepali understands these, Let’s write them down for those who need
help…

  • Underground Table – someone is paying someone to do a job rapidly such as getting something done like getting a drivers license without a test, or get a name for your new business for which you don’t need to go through a chain of tiny offices to get nothing but signatures then come back to that place for final approval. UndergroundTable = Money and of course, it means CORRUPTION.
  • Underground – Nepal has no mines. A few of those work near the river. Anything underground is now here the water that supplied to KTM valley; many of the water pipes have never had chance for a new one. Expect water to contain lead, and other halful chemicals. Hence those who live in the city do boil water before drinking.
  • Underground = Slavery -  Just like any other poor country, Nepal is no exception to this Underground business. But you categories Slavery into as many types as you like; rich people often have a few for, middle class might be able to afford one, and there are those who define Slavery as STUDENT; meaning, hire girl or boy from village and help/him her do the chores in the house, then send them to school while taking care of the cost of the education. They often get money to visit family when a festival like DASHAIN comes in.
  • Underground = Street Kids This is not new. Many homeless kids come to KTM in search of Jobs and they end of sleeping in streets, gathering trash and trying what they can do survive. There aren’t enough space for them in many places which do take in such kids. These kids are also Underground. It does thrive because they are forced to or many have no choice back in villages where family have abandoned them. Some of these kids also run away knowing City brings better life.
  • Underground = SEX KTM isn’t just another city, here SEX business also thrives. Underground makes more although there are no statistics to prove what we write here, these are the places where PM and many other who can afford the cost go into. Now the other tiny ones trying to make ends meet, create some jobs through so called DISCO or DANCE houses are often targeted as the main place. This is a complete false. Do the underground search before DISCO, compare the results, it should be surprising  which one is making more money, which one is making sex trafficking
  • Underground = Officer at the T U Airport Remember we mentioned Underground equals money. Gold smuggling is still thriving business in this nation. The law clearly says, “If you can help us catch the bad guys, we will give you half of what we catch!”  So both guys are winning here. There is no official record of how much of  the Gold captured is put back into the Economy or into the pockets of those in charge to prevent this crime.
  • Underground = Kids working in Carpet factories etc. Now here they really are under ground, the buildings are so tall, only the owners might live up, workers are under the ground. Not all underground means bad.
  • Underground = Reporters Reports in Nepal don’t have the freedom of writing what they saw or heard, nor can they express the way they want.  Publishers put strings to their body and they know where to go to get the news that makes money, rather than report a story that’s true. Reporters don’t make a lot money in this nation and hence goes the Underground rule; because there is no choice.  There are some reporters who go out of the false circle.  They have probably left Publishers, founded their own company or just blog on the things that they SAW, for  the sake of happiness and truth.

Don’t get Nepal WRONG, just because a recent story carried out by CNN blamed that NEPAL has SEX TRAFFIC. What they don’t know is, Nepal has many meanings of  Underground and TRAFFICIKING Is nothing new. What could more have been said is, it’s every where in poor countries. SEX happens for business. Laws perhaps needs to changed. With a tiny country with tons of unemployed people, everyone trying flyaway, perhaps things can change here: and for Better:

  • Provide better education on SEX, issue Licensing to Discos, and perhaps, and just perhaps, creating more jobs for Nepalese right at home might solve the trafficking problem. Not by reporting something that’s already been happening in Nepal for centuries.

Lack of Knowledge will lead this nation no where
and any crime is a crime be it Underground ! Act on it !

R U ready to bombard your ideas on how we can solve this problem ?
