My Snaps from Syangja Kurumpha
Hi, my name is Karma and I’m going to share with you some pictures from a visit to my Birthplace, Kurumpa.
I’m not a photographer, but I would like to learn. I’m in my 50s. Photos are of Kurumpha, few views from there; Agridanda, Chestnut Forrest, Chhipung Bhanjhyang and Putlikhet Bazzar, Barsare Dando, and Aambote are here.
About 50 years ago, the only way to get to Kathmandu was by foot. Today’s cities were nothing more than a point for villagers to converge. Most of you all know that. Everyone had to walk, there was no other choice for transportation except your own legs. Life was hard but we had fresh air up in the mountains. Only those who were fortunate could go to school. It was all very difficult, something very different to what we have today; but, today, i I see many youth take things for granted. I hope you will enjoy these pictures and remember how your Dad or Mum went through to bring you up and their ongoing support for your life.
Briefing on my own story, I had left my birth place in search of bread and education. My mum, who passed away about 7 years ago, lived here longer than her breed. During her later stage in life, I took her to show most cities of Nepal, including our famous place– the Kathmandu. She met one of my friend who had given me the chance to study “SLC” while working as a house-servant for his family during my tender age around 12 years of age. I had come to Kathmandu from Kurumpha by foot. Today Kurumpha can be reached in just a day with a few hiking.
Well, enough of my ranting. But something I shouldn’t miss for you..
My mum would always tell me these words and I’m going to write here for you…
“अ।फु जन्मेको ठाउ नबि्रसनु” – don’t forget your birth-place
I hope you don’t forget that line too !
I’m posting these with excitements.
Should any of these photos help you remember your mother-land,
I would consider my job done.

subash, can you recommend something here that is of more interesting for tourists ? how can Kurumpha develop for tourism ? any inputs would welcomed.
i know syangja is a beautiful place but the syangjali people and leaders have to think abt the andhikhola river because it is going to like a bagmati river of valley.
since i am also the citizen of walling municapility i am worried about andhikhola river it also may be the attraction for tourist as well as for the local tourist it is the pride for syangjali since it has the traditional story of it’s own about srabhan kumar for hinfu in the world. so that the syangjali people must think about andhikhola river because the fish are criying and if we look for it’s future it may be like a bagmati of kathmandu valley moreover must of the syangjali are backbiteer so it is difficult to work there since i also have got experienced about it so i wish if this organization looks after it then it will be good.
