NP Tourism Policy
Nepal is ready to introduce a newly revised Tourism Policy with an aim to boost the Tourism Sector. We will be using this post to write down the entire Policy and also discuss its significance.
For now, join with us to give feedback to the responsible authorities. What changes do you see and what kind of policy would be better for Nepal ? Any idea ?
If you are asking me and not the team of this site, I say, make NEPAL Bandha illegal since you aren’t only making Nepal Bandha but also Tourism Bandha. (For cureious eyes only – Bandha = Strikes and riots created by most Students with political motives. Bandha usually results in disruption of daily life of ordinary citizens.)
Bandha = Crime
Period.
We are waiting for policy to come out. Let’s hear from you all.

We learned that the policy is to be created..
- To promote existing rural tourism
- To identify new tourist areas
- To promote all old and new tourism areas
Those are pretty much in every policy as well as festivals such as the previous one known by the name – “Visit Pokhara 2007″
Will this new policy be different than the rest and will it really bring LEGAL issues that require much attention for developing Nepal’s Tourism. Policy should be created to Develop, not to promote mere words of speech.
Take care.
p.s. This post is subject to revision which will include in-depth detail on the Policy. So, comeback later or bookmark it.

I agree with you. But I miss on that incident you talked about. Could you please tell us what happened ? I have always believed that Traveling in Nepal is safer than traveling in other similarly crowded place such as NY, U.S.
It’s funny how policies are created for the sake of promotion or to get someone’s name in headline news. Is there a responsible body in nepal that looks after proper conduct of a policy ? If police is nothing more than a procedure, then I give up. I believe police should be part of Nepalese Law.
So Sujan, have you found any details on this new policy ? I get the feeling that in Nepal, these politicians and responsible authorities such as the Director of Nepal Tourism Boards.. only comeout bold and make a speech like… hey, here is a new policy. see.. we are doing something afer all. But then, they never mention about the police nor do they evalute it…. Well, I could be wrong.
It’s nice to read your input.
cheers!
i wish all the best for this blog. i am i am an Indian would like to visit Nepal. i am a resident of Bahrain with Indian Passport. can you please clarify about the visa procedure for Indian nationals staying in other country. what are the main tourist spots you can suggest for me?. i am planning to visit march 20th to 31st.

Thanks for asking, but in future, please post comments specific to the topic. For help, search main site and the travel forum.
For now, I will try my best to answer you question:
Nepal’s VISA Policy looks at the “Nationality” issue. If you are of Indian Nationals — No visa is required, also you can easily get visa for all Nationalities in Airport in Nepal. For requirements, this page might be useful.

Let me know if you have any further questions.

I am the newly graduate in hospitality management from Cyprus. Though Nepal has high prospect in tourism sector, I can hardly see any important policy for the development. I was shocked with the recent conflict in Hotel Annapurna. Imagine what bad impression this incident has created among the international travelers. Nothing has been systematic yet. Police have lack of discipline, acting like gangsters, while the hotel staffs, who should show professionalism, also behaved like bunch of crooks. I don’t like people adopting violent route for every problem. Country has already been transforming to the peace and development, in this case, every citizen of Nepal should understand their responsibilities and act sensibly. Thanx.
