According to recent press release by Nepal Tourism Board, June remained to be cautious month; nearly a drop of 7% tourists as compared to the same month of last year (Visit Pokhara 2007)

Following is a summary of the Tourists Arrival For the Month June 2008 released by Nepal Tourism Board.

  • Asian Countries contributed as much as 50% of the tourists while European nations made 27% and New Zealand and Australia combined with 3%.
  • India contributed significantly as much as 28% of the total Tourists Arrival for June 2008
  • Total Arrival by Air : 21K (vs Last Year 23K)
  • Slight drop of Tourists from Austria, Sweden, USA, and India are main reasons for drop, also country went through tough times which the many people outside didn’t digest in the same way.
  • Tourism is expected to grow with double digits increase from the same region in the months to come, as world watches Nepal make many historic peace deals including the establishment of a Republic Nepal and the country prepares itself for everlasting peace and new government.
