The most common sickness travelers can have in Nepal

A while back, I wrote a post with tips on how to be safe in Nepal, for those who haven’t read it, please browse this blog.

When you have traveled from another corner of the world, your body’s clock for day and night needs adjustment. So, on your first day in Nepal, it is best to get a long good night sleep before doing anything else. Don’t sleep in the day time though!

Do not eat salad. Drink mineral waters which you can buy at any shops here. If you can, drink fully boiled warm water. Don’t just grab an apple out of your shopping bag and eat it like you would do back in your country such as USA, if that’s what you do back there.

Among all the illness, stomach virus and dioaria arw the #1 and#2 sickness faced by tourists here. Which could be similar in other developing nations having poor sensitization.

If you are in a budget hotel, be weary of facilities they offer. Put health as your top priority so you can enjoy and explore your venture.

My advice? Talk to your doctor about your trip and carry all medications he recommends to visit a particular country such as Nepal.

We want you to enjoy your stay in Nepal but not hurting and sleeping in your hotel all through your vacation time.

Also, seek immediate help when you are sick. There are over the counter medicines, hospitals; some even fully dedicated to travelers.

Share your sickness experience with others by commenting to this post.

Where-ever you go; there can be water, what-ever you eat has water in it, in some form and not all waters are pure as we might think. So please stay safe, and be safe in Nepal.

I have experienced some bad stomach pains while in India and the pill called Xifaxan helped me immediately. When you get stomach problems take 3 pills a day for 3 days. Also in addition you can take Peptobismol, it really helps if you have upset stomach. Yes, the Xifaxan pills are little bit expensive (US$4,5 per pill) but they really help and they don’t go to your blood stream. Anyway, this helped me. I am in Nepal right now and I just took the pill. It helped me.
