Tourism Class in School?
Nepal Government needs to teach kids about the importance of Tourism for the country. Teaching should be done from the early age so the future of Nepal are better prepared. It’s indeed a wise thing to do for a country that fully depends on tourism.
- Add Tourism as a major subject in school, preferably from 6th Grade and on.
- Create nature related activities such as tours into villages, jungles, etc. Make it mandatory. This would be part of the practicle exam.
- Encourage kids to learn more about their own Nepal. Each school would create their own programs annually or even more often to visit places and learn, create street shows to teach and empower others.Create contests such as writing stories, poems, paintings and arts, etc.
- Make Tourism a must take course from school to college level for every student
Just learning the phrase: guests(tourists) are God isn’t enough. Teach students what they should do, and not do to harm tourism
What would a Tourism country want from its citizens? It’s worth asking that question to ourselves.
I hope that Tourism becomes a subject for all of us to study in our schools and colleges, and that it makes us a better citizen of Nepal.

I think you should do some research and gauge the importance of the subject in micro as well as macro perspectives before you suggest anything. That gives value to your work. Isn’t it? Henceforth, you should mind that teaching toursim to every child may not sound good whereas i do agree with on the particular point that you mentioned - encourage every child to read more about Nepal. I belive that understanding Nepal from different perspectives like economy, geography and cultural point of view are current need of the country. The economic pattern has been shifted towards the globalization after the exploitation of technoology and communication after late eighties. Therefore, every citizen of this country should understand that how the goods they are using today are much more cheaper and easily available then ever before which is made thousands miles away.
So I think tourism industry is a small components of the economics. It comes under while you study economics. Therefore, economic should be the subject for every student since it impacts everyday life no matter whoever they are and where ever they live. Obviously the interested student may opt tourism in their specializaion when they have comprehensive knowledge about the economics.
Without economics you cannot imagine tourism industry.
“Without economics you cannot imagine tourism industry.” now that sound’s the other way round to me. Correlated ? Will tourism help the economy or economy will help the tourism. The post was created to add tourism subject; not necessarily filled with jargons perhaps little more about what Nepal has for both Nepalese as well as None Nepali Travelers. Perhaps the book could be introduced from higher level or even at the beginning level. It might help students realize how much important the tourism is to Nepal. Will such teaching help reduce useless bandhas and strikes affecting tourism ?? will such teaching generate great travel managers who bear innovation, ideas and leadership quality to take our tourism to the 21st century!

I think tourism was created in order to feed the economy. It became backbone for the development in many countries around the world when tourism industry was established. Well, fren you can say economy helps the tourism and vice versa since there is always relationship between the parents and the children in either way.

My question, what would happen to Nepal if “Tourism” is kicked off!!
So does Tourism is something that should be taught from the early age, and why not ? I think any education good for the nation is a good education.
