Nepal Discrimination in National Parks

Nepal Discrimination in National Parks

Parks and reserves are certainly the most part of revenue from tourists than from locals in rural part of Nepal. Tourists who visit Nepal will find there way into some or all of the great parkes, conservation areas and reserves that are surrounded by beautiful nature; Annapurna, Chitwan etc. What will shock you is the discriminations. Ha? Yes! One fee for nationals, another fee for nationals of South Asian Countries, and a huge fee for any other nationals. The rate trend is similar for all parks. How were the fees calculated and what kind of message does it present to the would be travellers of your country. In a country who is fighting for Democracy, it is time to change old the bricks from the wall of discrimination! Does the word Freedom includes, No Discrimination and Justice for all !

A smart tourism product must be able to market itself effectivelly not by discriminating!

  • Fees for Visiting Parks etc should be same for anyone whether he/she is a Nepali or Not or whether he/she is a South Asian Nationality
  • You think other tourists won’t feel discriminated.
  • Fees are to be paid at the entrance? What? We live in a modern times; make it available to buy from any location within Nepal
  • Provide a clear picture of where the park fee revenue goes. Present such report to the public via web
  • If you show the transparency of your work, people might even give you more than the fee you have asked for. Many will donate to you. Different Rates for Different people is not the 21st Centure. It is time to wake up, learn some lessons from other countries.

Hope the new or should I say unfolding or notfolding Nepal brings freedom as well as reduces discriminations againsts Humans that live in Nepal or visit Nepal

Jai Nepal everyone!
