Nepal - a recap of major events
April 21, 2006 : Nepali King restores democracy after the seven party alliance movement. His most fearful enemy, the maoists join the new government upon declaring end of a decade long bloody war this year.
May 19 2006 : Nepal no longer remains the hindu Kingdom, now declared as a Secular state.
Jan 2007 : Nepal declares the year as “visit pokhara 2007″ to boost the country’s tourism industry as the it prepares for peace.
April 2 2007 : Maoists quit their a decade long bloody civil war and become a part of the Nepali Government
May 2007, brings tourism hope alive, 50% growth in tourists inflow as compared to last year. Hopes to double that number in the coming months.
Today, the country is preparing for a general election for a Republic Nepal, election is planned to be held this year.
